Beethoven’s groundbreaking Ninth Symphony has all but defined the idea of musical immortality. It introduced vocal soloists and chorus into the symphonic setting, incorporating part of Ode to Joy, a poem by Friedrich Schiller. The DPO, with chorus and guest vocalists, will bring this masterwork to vivid life in the Mead Theatre. For the program opening, Neal continues the Tchaikovskian thread from the first program, performing a march by the Russian master. Also: Stravinsky's lovely ballet music, The Fairy's Kiss, inspired by themes from Tchaikovsky.

Pre-Concert "Take Note" discussion 7:00 in the Mead Theatre with Dr. Hank Dahlman, Director of the DPO Chorus.

Pre-Concert performance 7:00 - 7:45 on the DP&L Stage:  Dayton Mandolin Orchestra
