DAYTON, OH (March 27, 2013) – On Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m. in the Mead Theatre of the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will present Endless Summer: The Music of The Beach Boys with the Jeans ’N Classics Ensemble, the fourth and final concert in the DPO 2012-2013 Imagine Season’s Rockin’ Orchestra Series. Concert sponsors are HORAN Associates and Miller-Valentine Group.

As a delightful prelude to summer, the DPO will bring its Canadian friends, Jeans ’n Classics, back to the Mead Theatre stage for the April Rockin’ Orchestra concert featuring the music of the quintessential West Coast rock group of all time, the Beach Boys. It’s a sun-blessed, feel-good conclusion to a fantastic series.

With the Beach Boys show, Jeans ’n Classics has created a nostalgic retro evening capturing the musical innocence and naiveté of the early 1960s...the sounds and styles of an era when the juke box ruled and the newness, freshness and excitement of the music dominated and defined pop radio. The music endeared itself to legions of fans and set the stage for decades to come.

In addition, Brian Wilson's writing and the Beach Boys’ 'sound', broke new ground. They were much more than their early surf sound roots. Exquisite vocal harmonies, brilliant chord progressions and a use of unique instruments and studio experimentation challenged their contemporaries and certainly placed them at the very top of what became the progressive pop/rock genre.

Jeans ’n Classics will perform the Beach Boys’ hits, including California Girls, Sail On Sailor, Help Me Rhonda, Please Let Me Wonder, In My Room, Do It Again, I Can Hear Music, Don't Worry Baby, Darlin', A Neck 'n Neck Medley, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Sloop John B, Dance Dance Dance, The Girls On The Beach, God Only Knows, Surfer Girl, Good Vibrations, and Kokomo.

It’s a concert where summer doesn’t just come early; it never ends.

Jeans ’n Classics personnel for this concert include Neil Donell (Lead Vocals), Aaron MacDonald (Lead vocals/Saxes), Andrea Koziol, Leah Salomaa, Kathryn Rose (Backup/ Lead Vocals), John Regan (Piano/Host), Peter Brennan (Guitars), Mitch Tyler (Bass), and Jeff Christmas (Drums).

Tickets for Endless Summer: The Music of The Beach Boys range from $27 to $79 and are available at Ticket Center Stage (937) 228-3630 and at Senior, teacher and student discounts are available at box office.
