DAYTON, OH (October 25, 2016)On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 11:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m., Dayton Ballet, in conjunction with Victoria Theatre Association, will host a Mid-Day Arts Café in the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton.

Now in its seventh year, the Mid-Day Arts Café showcases Dayton’s unique and vibrant arts community through live performances, interactive Q&As, and premieres of upcoming productions.  Audience members will have the opportunity to network with artists, meet local arts enthusiasts, learn new skills, and connect with the community. Every Mid-Day Arts Café begins with a box lunch provided by Citilites Restaurant & Bar at 11:30 a.m., and the presentation starts promptly at noon.

On November 15, 2016, the Mid-Day Arts Café will feature Dayton Ballet. Artistic Director Karen Russo Burke will introduce the audience to a few of the dancers from Dayton Ballet’s professional company.  Ms. Burke and the dancers will discuss the life of a professional dancer and answer some of the many questions ballet fans often have, from what a typical day for a dancer is like to how long it takes to rehearse specific pieces to what clothing and shoes the dancers wear.  The Dayton Ballet dancers will then demonstrate some ballet technique and partnering skills.  Ms. Burke and her dancers will host a Q&A after the main presentation, during which attendees can get a behind-the-scenes look at this athletically demanding yet elegant and engaging profession.

Tickets for Mid-Day Arts Café are $15 and are available from Ticket Center Stage, at the Box Office, or by phone at 937-228-3630 or 888-228-3630.  For more information or to order subscriptions, including flexible subscription types that include performances by Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Opera and Dayton Ballet, visit

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance

The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the community, offering a tremendous variety of performance and education programs and setting a new standard for artistic excellence.  Dayton Performing Arts Alliance performances are made possible in part by Montgomery County and Culture Works, the single largest source of community funds for the arts and culture in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance also receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency created to foster and encourage the development of the arts and to preserve Ohio's cultural heritage. Funding from the Ohio Arts Council is an investment of state tax dollars that promotes economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohio residents.  The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is proud to be one of five performing arts organizations in the country selected to receive a three-year "Music Alive" grant from New Music USA and the League of American Orchestras.
