DPO History

Founded in 1933, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) has a distinguished place in Dayton's history as one of the community's oldest and longest standing cultural institutions. Today, rich in artistic tradition, the Orchestra is proud to call the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center its home. The move to the Schuster Center has provided a wider regional influence and amazing acoustics. As part of the move in 2003, a commemorative book was produced. We are pleased to provide online access to the book (via the chapter listing to the right) and a PDF below. You may purchase the physical book by calling Laurie Cothran, Executive Assistant, at (937) 224-3521, ext. 102.
